Organizational Profile

 

Genesis of MPUS:

Momota  Polly Unnayan Sangstha (MPUS) is  a  non-government, non-political, Volunteers  development organisation established  in the  year  1997. The organization was initiated by a group of dedicated volunteers of the locality who were inspired by the sprit of traditional social work. The main focus of MPUS is to promote food security for ultra poor through development activities such as social mobilization health. Hygiene and Nutrition Trade based skill development training, women empowerment through Enterprise development. Disable development, Prevention of HIV/AIDS. Awareness on climate change adaptation, Awareness on drug & Anti-tobacco, agricultural activities, prevention of household violence, family right, conflict resolution through mediation, development of small Entrepreneur, establish Human Rights, Datit, Horijon & Minority People for there livelihood Health rights, Prevention of women and child trafficking, training on legal awareness and extending legal support. Promote gender development Homestead gardening, nursery, tree plantation, advocacy provide literacy, water  & sanitation.

 

Legal Status:

After establishment, MPUS was registered with Directorate of Social Services under government of Bangladesh. Vide Reg. No. Dinaj-1598/2000 Date 08/11/2000, Youth Dinaj-234/Sadar-89 Date: 15/06/2005

Vision

Promotion of the socio economic condition of the under privilege people and empowerment of women and hard core poor through the Enterprise development literacy, Prevention of HIV/AIDS and climate change adaptation.

 

Mission  

MPUS is to conduct effective development initiatives for sustainability and peaceful society and committed to the empowerment of the disadvantaged and marginalized people of our society. Prepare young and adolescent for responsible. Promote community ownership for sustainable development.

 

Goal :

To improve the living standard of the disadvantaged and vulnerable men, women and children including persons with disability, Dalit, Horijon &  minority through need based sustainable development programs related to economic, social, environment and cultural in greater northern part of Bangladesh.

 

Objectives of MPUS :

  • To Ensure Human rights and child right, Health right of the disadvantages people.
    • To promote food security and livelihood development through social mobilization, Health Hygiene & Nutrition and skill development training including income generating activities.
    • To promote women Empowerment through economic development
      • To create awareness on preventive health measures HIV/AIDS and climate change adaptation
      • To provide support to disable people for there livelihood
        • To prevent violence against women, combat woman & child trafficking and early marriage.
        • To provide support for water and sanitation
        • To provide training on skill development, legal awareness & Legal support
        • To raise awareness on drug and Anti tobacco
        • To aware on Environment development
        • To resolve conflict through mediation
        • To promote literacy & continuing education for human development.
        • To establish nursery &Tree plantation.
        • To provide support for Dalit, Horijon and Minority people for there livelihood.

Development approach & working strategy of MPUS:

MPUS adopts participatory development approach program planning, Implementation and evaluation. During planning undertake PRA methods in need identification for program designing, and during program implementation MPUS  always stresses on non-directive, bottom up & people's participatory working strategy for maximum participation of the people in the development process.

 

Nature of Program Participants/Beneficiaries of MPUS  :

Poor & vulnerable people especially women of lower income families i.e. land less, day labors, marginal farmers,  destitute, abandon, divorced, privileged  children, adolescent  and Dalit, Horijon & minority group economically poor, who are living below the poverty line are the direct program participants/beneficiaries of MPUS .

Process of formation of General Body:

01.  General Body formatted with all of the general members (including   founder member) of the organization.

02.  General Body formatted a committee of 26 members with all general members.

 

Process of formation of Executive Body:

01.  Executive Body Formatted by the Qualified and active members of General Body. 

02.  Executive Body formatted by election with participation of general members.  

03.  Executive Body formatted a committee of 07 members by Chairman, Vice-Chairman, General Secretary, Asst. general Secretary, Treasurer & 2 Member.

04.  Executive Body formatted for a term of two years.

 

Process of change of General Body:

In case of any general member-

01.  Violation of constitutional rules or discipline of the organization.

02.  Any act or attempt act of defamation to the organization.

03.  Failure in payment of membership subscription for six month.

04.  Absent in last 3 meeting without approval.

05.  Mentally abnormal or death. 

06.  Get condemnation by court.

 

General Body should change/reform of body by the decision of AGM.

 

 Process of change of Executive Body:

If necessary General body have power of attorney to change the Executive Body in its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

  1. b.      Role of the General Body and Executive Body given bellow:

 

Role of General Body:

 

  1. General body shall elect the Executive Committee in its biennial Annual General Meeting (AGM) every two years.
  2. General Body through AGM shall approve of the budget and annual action plan every year.  
  3. General Body through AGM shall approve program activities and financial statement every year.
  4. General Body shall normally meet once in a year, selection and formation/ reformation of Executive Body and Advisory Committee shall finalize in the 2nd AGM.

 

Role of Executive Body:

 

  1. The Executive Body, here in after called as EB, shall be constituted of seven elected members. They will be elected by the GB and will remain in office for a term of two years.
    1. EB shall function as the supreme executive authority of the organization.  
    2. EB shall be accountable only to the GB for its acts and decisions.
    3. EB shall invite the annual General Meeting.
    4. EB shall meet minimum six times in a year.

  Strength of Organization:

  • Skilled manpower
  • Good cooperation with Upazila Parishad (Administration), Union Parishad, Religious and Educational institutions, CBOs, Local stakeholders etc. As example;

  Coordination between central and field office:

 

  • Field staffs should attend in weekly, fortnightly, monthly meeting at central office (as per schedule).
    • Meeting, sharing, implementation, supervision, evaluation by the participatory method.
    • Project Coordinator responsible for the quality achievement.
    • Field staff responsible for the all concern field activities, submission of report, bill-voucher, and work plan to the central office.
      • Organize skill development training for the field staff.
      • Provide required number of staff, logistic, stationary, fund etc.
      • Field activities monitoring, evaluation by the central office.  

  Nature of collaboration of the organization (MPUS) involved are the follows:

 

  • Awareness raising and motivation.
  • Campaign on local issues and development.
  • Organization building and development.
  • Observance of national and international week, days (Health, Disaster, Disable, Human Right, Safe mother, AIDS, Environment, Jubo, anti-tobacco, anti-Drug etc.)
    • Gender mainstreaming and development.  
    • Education support for the disabled children.
    • Promotion of volunteerism.
    • Work with Agricultural communities that one faced with multiple vulnerability.
    • Volunteer service during the disaster period.
    • Self blood donation program (Organizational Initiatives).
    • STD/HIV/AIDS prevention program (Organizational Initiatives).
