Project 1: SRHR Project

Promotion of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights: Provisioning of SRH services focusing on Safe MR and Reduction of Unsafe abortion in Bangladesh

Objective of the project
To Strengthen and improve the SRHR situation at national and community level as well as at the providers levels of the consortium in order to strengthening of reproductive health care services in close collaboration with the government and with other stakeholders in the project areas of SRHR Consortium by 2013.

Period of the project
July 2014 - December 2016

Donor/funding of the project
Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). 

Working area of the project
- 7 Divisions ; 19 districts including
- 13 Medical College Hospitals
- 9 District General Hospitals 
- 1 Maternity Clinc


Project 2: RFSU Project

Addressing unmet need of SRHR for young people through creating awareness in the selected area of Khulna and Sylhet, Bangladesh

Project results Summary
To contribute in reducing Gender disparity; rate of maternal mortality and morbidity and rate of HIV & AIDS as targeted in the MDG-3,5,&6 by the Government of Bangladesh by 2015 and beyond.

Focus area of the project
•  The project aims to push SRHR advocacy at local level as well as national level
•  The project targets SRHR knowledge, information and life skills level enhancement for young peoples.
•  The project has also a plan to enhance organizational capacity as well as staff capacity enhancement.
•  It has also a plan to build networking at both central as well as implementation/field level alliance building on SRHR and mutual cooperation.

Jan 1, 2014 – December 31, 2016

Project 3: UBR Project

Unite for Body Rights

Objective of the project
 Following objectives have been formulated under UBR project
1. Increased utilization and quality of comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services
2. Increased quality and delivery of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE)
3. Reduction of Sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV)
4. Increase acceptance of sexual diversity and Gender identity.

Period of the project
January 2011- December 2015

Donor/funding of the project
The Unite for Body Rights program is supported by Dutch SRHR Alliance (Rutgers WPF, Simavi) along with Embassy of Kingdom of the Netherlands

Location/area of the project
Kawkhali and Rajoshtali Upoazila of Rangamati Hill Districts are the working area of UBR project.   

 

Project 4: Ipas Project

 RHSTEP- Ipas Capacity Building Project

Project Title
Prevention of maternal death due to unwanted pregnancy (PMDUP)”

Project Goal
Reduce maternal mortality (MDG5) and improve women’s lives by reducing unsafe abortion and increase contraceptive use.

Project Objective
To improve and update the quality of MR & Post abortion Care Services in the public health facilities for reducing maternal mortality & morbidity in achieving MDG5.

Project Period
July 2011 to June 2016.

Project 5: Nuffic Project

Developing TVET, HE and training on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in the health and population sector in Bangladesh

Period of the Project
April 2013 – March 2017

Overall Objective of the Project 
To strengthen the institutional setting to work towards a better understanding of SRHR in Bangladesh and increased delivery of rights-based SRHR services, collaboration and advocacy to empower professionals in academia, health care, population and education for the ultimate benefit of the male and female population in Bangladesh.

Project 6: SAAF Project

Access to Safe MR and Reproductive Health for Youths and Adolescents (ASRYA-আশ্রয়)

This project aims to address promotion of safe abortion and prevention of unsafe abortion in underserved areas of Gaibandha sadar and Nasirnagar upazila of Gaibandha and Brahmanbaria districts. Focus of the project is to address reproductive health needs of poor, vulnerable, hard to reach adolescents girls and young women of targeted working areas. Selected areas are least developed “Haor” (low lying) area where roads are submerged almost round the year and  a “Monga” (food crisis) prone area- far behind according to demographic, socio-economic and health indicators comparing to the other parts of the country. This Project will expand safe MR and abortion-related services and information in outlets and communities.

The innovativeness of the project is engaging the community at all stages of the project cycle making them empowered. The project would contribute in improving maternal health strategy of HPNSDP of Government of Bangladesh and reaching MDG 5 related to Maternal Health.

This is a 3 year project started launching from January 2014

Overall goal of the project is to contribute in declining trend of maternal morbidity and mortality by reducing unsafe abortion in achieving MDG-5 by 2015 and beyond by Bangladesh.

In order to achieve above goal, following objectives of the project are set. 
Specific Objectives:

- To increase by 50% the access to the quality reproductive health services focusing safe abortion for women & adolescents in SAAF project areas during the project period through establishing 2 (two) RH Centres.
- To improve by 70% the SRHR knowledge among the target beneficiaries in the project areas during the project period
-To increase the awareness and involvement of Community Stakeholders in abortion related services
